Next Free-A-Tree Invasive Vine Cutting: Saturday, March 13th
The next vine-cutting will be Saturday, March 13th from 9:30am-12:30pm at the Farragut Avenue site (directions are below). This may be one of the last couple of vine-cuttings for this season! As spring approaches, so do the poison ivy leaves that cause us to postpone our events until fall… Let’s make the last couple events leave a dent that could last through summer!
If you didn’t see the article about February’s vine-cutting, read Aman Ali’s article in the Journal News about Sunday’s effort. It was a good article and we received a lot of positive response from concerned citizens throughout the watershed. With continued support and participation, our group effort is building momentum. Let’s keep it up!
Hope to see you there! Please send a quick e-mail to emily@groundworkhv.org, or leave a comment on this post if you know that you will be able to attend.

This weekend we have a special guest! Groundwork has hired a new employee through an organization called EarthCorps. EarthCorps is an environmental training program that works with young environmentalists from all over the world and trains them in trail building, invasive plant management, native plants, and other conservation techniques.
Michael Singoro comes from Kenya and recently completed the 6 month training program with EarthCorps in Seattle. He wanted to extend his training visa and found Groundwork Hudson Valley. He has a lot of experience in watershed preservation and will share his knowledge, along with a little bit of information about where he comes from and the issues that people face there.
Please RSVP if you are going to be able to attend. Hope to see you there!
We look forward to an exciting and productive 2010. With each new year, the role of on-the-ground community projects in sustainability, education, neighborhood greening, and job training
become increasingly vital and we couldn’t do any of it without the support and participation of our neighbors, partnering organizations, local and state governments, and individual supporters.

Found you at EcoFest and wondering what the Vine Cutting would entail — and would it be appropriate for 4-8 girls of 12 years of age. They may be available first thing Sunday morning to do as a small group if you think it appropriate. Kindly advise.
Many thanks.
I am interested in volunteering for 11/4 vinecuting. Please reply with more info.

Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your response! Vine-Cutting would be great for your group. We will teach them what to do and provide materials. If for some reason vine cutting is too difficult for them, we will also have trash-pick up tools. Hope to see you Sunday!
I’m interested in volunteering for Saturday, November 21. Do I need to offiiclaly sign up or do I just show up?
Great! Just show up. We’ll see you then.
Emily, the Masters volunteers are asking if we’re still on for tomorrow, December 6, or will the vine cutting be canceled due to the snow? Please let me know.
Thank you!
