Get Fresh Yonkers Farmers Market
Groundwork Hudson Valley’s newly expanded farmers market in downtown Yonkers features local produce grown within 100 miles of Yonkers, locally-produced baked goods and breads, and jams made by Yonkers public high school students.
Time and location
The market is held in the daylighted Van der Donck Park, across the street from the Yonkers Train Station and adjacent to the Yonkers Riverfront Library. The market was formerly located at Philipse Manor Hall in Yonkers.
The market is open every Friday this season from June 5 through to October 30, 12:00 pm — 5:00 pm.
About the market
Groundwork opened the Farmers Market in 2010, bringing local, affordable produce to Yonkers each week. The market is part of Groundwork’s Get Fresh Yonkers initiative to create a food co-op for Yonkers in collaboration with area farms, local schools, and downtown businesses. Along with the market, Groundwork is offering culinary training in a professional kitchen for youth interested in starting their own food-related businesses, and creating partnerships between local restaurants and farms, increasing their access to seasonal and delicious local produce. The co-op also includes the Citizen Farmer initiative, which provides Yonkers residents with the space and skills to grow vegetables for the farmers market, as well as to share with each other and other members of Groundwork’s Community Supported Agriculture program.
Anyone interested in participating in these programs can contact Curt Collier at (914) 375-2151 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Get Fresh Yonkers is made possible through a grant from the USDA.
