Water Quality
The Saw Mill River Coalition has been coordinating and conducting water quality studies of the Saw Mill River since its inception in 2001. The Saw Mill River is one of the most heavily polluted tributaries to the Hudson River as it runs through very densely populated regions. The Coalition is working in conjunction with its partners, among them Manhattan College and Saunders High School, to gain comprehensive scientific data regarding the quality of Saw Mill River water.
In conducting these studies the Coalition is able to identify pollution hot spots and develop remediation programs with the Saw Mill River communities.
Water Quality studies have also included intensive fish studies in which high school and college students and professors monitored the fish species in the river.
