The Great Saw Mill River Cleanup Returns on Earth Day
The Great Saw Mill River Cleanup returns this spring on Earth Day – Saturday, April 22nd from 10am to 1pm.
The annual event hosted by Groundwork Hudson Valley and the Saw Mill River Coalition is held across Yonkers and Westchester County drawing hundreds of enthusiastic volunteers for a day full of unity and environmental restoration. Last year, 200 volunteers spread across six sites and four towns in Westchester filled 230 garbage bags of trash from the Saw Mill River. Items removed from the river included plastics, invasive vines, construction materials, and debris from the waterway.
The Saw Mill River is a key natural resource for the County and this event is an incredible effort to clean and restore the river, and improve the environmental health of the communities around it.
