Launch of the Environmental Science P-TECH Program at the Barack Obama School

Groundwork Hudson Valley is thrilled to announce the launch of the Environmental Science P-TECH program at the Barack Obama School for Social Justice, a collaborative effort between Yonkers Public Schools and SUNY Westchester Community College. This exciting event featured a tree-planting ceremony and the ribbon-cutting of a new student greenhouse, built through the dedicated efforts of students, school staff, and the Groundwork Hudson Valley team. This greenhouse will serve as an interactive learning space, fostering hands-on experiences in environmental science.

This partnership is a significant step toward addressing the climate crisis while creating meaningful pathways from high school to careers in the growing green economy. As our youth increasingly understand the urgency of climate action, they are leading the way in advocating for sustainability and resilience.

The P-TECH program will provide students with a structured pathway to earn an academic degree in environmental science, alongside a new urban forestry certificate program. This initiative responds not only to the climate challenges we face but also to the increasing demand for skilled professionals in fields like conservation and renewable energy.

Groundwork Hudson Valley is grateful for the opportunity to work with dedicated partners, educators, and passionate students. Together, we are instilling hope and empowering the next generation to drive real change.
