Science Barge Booking Request Form - Groundwork Hudson Valley

Please complete the following information to request a programming slot with Groundwork Hudson Valley’s Sustainability Educators. Once we receive your submission, our staff will reach out to you in order to review details and confirm the booking.

Booking details:

During the Science Barge’s open season, which runs from late May-late October, in-person programming is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Virtual programming is available any weekday during the rest of the year, from November to May.

For our in-person programming on the Science Barge, we can accommodate one group of up to 30 students at a time. If your group is larger than that, you will be prompted later in the form to select dates and times for multiple trips in order to accommodate your group. There is no limit on group size for virtual programming.

Payment:

After our staff have confirmed your program with you, we will send you the invoice. A $100.00 deposit (per program slot) is required within 2 weeks of receiving your invoice in order to secure your booking. Deposits can be submitted online via credit card or a mailed check. The full invoice amount is then due at least 2 weeks before your scheduled program.

Inclement weather for in-person programming:

It is Groundwork Hudson Valley policy that the Science Barge must be closed down if we see or hear thunder or lightning, or if the heat index reaches 100 or higher. Outside of those conditions, our programming is rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather on the day of your trip, the Science Barge educators will reach out to your lead educator/contact at least 1 day before your trip, if possible. If necessary, we will work with you to reschedule your trip as soon as possible.

Please describe any special accommodations or information to help us enhance your time on the Science Barge.

During the Science Barge’s open season, which runs from late May-late October, in-person programming is available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Virtual programming is available any weekday during the rest of the year, from November to May.

If you selected a virtual program, please choose the time slot on your preferred date that is closest to the time of your class period. We will work with you later on to schedule the exact time of the program based on your school’s class schedule.

If you selected an in-person program, the number of time slots you must select is based on the number of students you entered earlier in the form. You can select the same date twice with different time slots, or select time slots across separate dates.

Ex. If you have up to 30 students, you will select 1 date/time. If you have 31-60, you will select 2 dates/times. If you have 61-90, you will select 3 dates/times.
